Participants in the program are advanced graduate students (beyond their second year), postodoctoral scholars, and early-stage faculty (with less than two years of faculty experience). They will be provided with targeted workshops designed to help them progress through transitions in training until they become independent neuroscience investigators. At that point they will serve as mentors to participants remaining in the program.
The majority of participants from Cohort 1 of DCNS successfully transitioned to the next stage of their career including into tenure-track faculty positions or becoming postdoctoral fellows. Several DCNS alums earned grants and fellowships throughout their time in the program. The cohort also wrote two articles about their experiences:
